Toratech AI works with organisations in Addis Ababa and across Ethiopia on the unglamorous half of artificial intelligence: the invoices that take three people a week to process, the policy documents nobody can find an answer in, the maintenance logs that hold a pattern no one has time to look for.
We came to this from engineering rather than from software. That shapes what we build. An engineer who has signed off a drawing understands immediately why a system that invents a plausible standards clause is worse than one that says it does not know, and why the confidence threshold matters more than the demonstration.
The training business exists because the building business kept running into the same wall. A good system used by staff nobody trained gets abandoned within a quarter. So we teach, and we teach against the learner's own work rather than a tidy example, because that is the only version anybody keeps using.
How we work
Measured, or it did not happen
Every engagement and every capstone ends with a number: hours saved, error rate before and after, cost per run. A demonstration that impresses a room is not evidence, and we do not present it as one.
Built for where it runs
Intermittent power, expensive bandwidth, documents in four languages, and regulators who will not accept data leaving the country. These are the normal conditions here, and designing around them is most of the work.
Handed over, not held
Every build ends with your team owning it: a runbook, a handover session, and training. A supplier who keeps the knowledge has sold you a dependency rather than a system.
We say when not to
The readiness assessment frequently concludes that the thing a client came in asking for is not worth building. Telling them costs us a project and earns the next three.
